Buda Juice Review

Do you eat the required amount of veggies every day? If you're like the majority of North Americans, you probably don't. (and the condiments on your burger don't really count as a serving, just sayin')

Depending on which guide you look at it, you are told to get in anywhere from 5 - 10 servings of fruits and vegetables a day.

While the guides say fruits and vegetables, I always advise my clients to get more vegetables in than fruits, especially if they're trying to control any blood sugar issues they have.

It can be hard to do

To be completely honest, I don't always eat the amount I want to each day.

This is where juicing is a great option.

Buda Juice approached me and asked me to try their one day juice cleanse.  I had been hearing some great things about this company (available in the U.S. and Canada - check their website for details)

Buda Juice Ginger ShotI'd already fallen in love with their ginger shots, and  looked at the yummy types of juices they offered.  Their quality is there - their juices are Cold Pressed, certified Organic, non- Pasteurized, have no HPP (high pressured processing), are in glass Bottles and have no preservatives, water or extra ingredients.  It took me all of a nano-second to say a big YES! to trying out the cleanse and the juices in it.

Why do a juice cleanse?

There are a lot of opinions out there about whether cleanses are good for you or if they actually work.

My personal thought is this - it is good to give you body a rest once in a while.  I often recommend that you do a cleanse when the seasons change.  Some people may choose to fast for 24 hours (or more), some will only eat certain foods for a period of time, and some people will do a juice cleanse.

Here's what Buda Juice offers as a reason to do a juice cleanse

"The struggle is real. Living a healthy balanced lifestyle isn’t always easy, especially when trying to keep up with the daily grind. Your body works hard for you, so give it a break. Time to rest, reboot and recharge with the Buda Cleanse. These six bottles will work overtime to rid your body of toxins, while replenishing essential vitamins nutrients and minerals."

I was ready to do this!

Armed with the juices, and the card that explained how to do it, I planned to get started the next day.  I chose a day where I didn't have much planned, and where I could give myself the self care and rest I needed while doing the juice cleanse.

I also needed to be able to drink a lot of water that day, to enable the toxins from the cleanse to be flushed from my body.

First up was Green Juice No. 01  - this juice is Apple, Celery, Cucumber, Ginger, Kale, Lemon, Parsley, Romaine, and Spinach, and it was my breakfast.

This juice is a real wake me up - very nice ginger flavour.  Many juices will say they have ginger in them, but the amount is so low that you can't really taste it.  This juice DEFINITELY had ginger in it!  Yum!

What's included?

Here are the rest of the juices that you drink and when you are supposed to have them throughout the day

Blue Lemonade (Lemon, Cucumber, Apple) – mid-morning snack
Red Juice (Apple, Beet, Celery, Ginger, Parsley) – lunch
Blue Lemonade (Lemon, Cucumber, Apple) – mid-afternoon snack
Pure Green Juice (Spinach, Kale, Lime, Fennel, Mint, Cucumber) – dinner
Buda Almond Milk (Filtered Water, Almonds, Cinnamon, Cardamom, Vanilla Bean) – after-dinner treat

I have to admit that in my excitement to do the juice cleanse, I didn't do the one thing that I ALWAYS advise. I didn't prepare properly.

How to prepare for a cleanse

When you're getting ready to do a cleanse, it is always advisable to cut down/eliminate your caffeine a few days before.

Over the Christmas/New Years break, I was drinking a lot of black tea. So the first thing that really hit me during the cleanse was a massive headache.  Not Buda Juices fault, it was all mine.  I increased my water intake even more than recommended and supplemented with magnesium to help with the headache.  It eventually got better near the end of the day, but I think it contributed to more tiredness than I would have normally experienced.

Would I recommend it or do it again?

Hell yes!  When you are prepared properly for this, it is a great way to give you body and your digestion the break it needs to be able to do its job effectively.

Even if you don't choose to do the cleanse, you need to try Buda Juice.

The flavour, crispness and the reasonable cost of their products are fabulous.

Check out their website - it's budajuice.ca in Canada and budajuice.com in the US, and find out how 'You can Buda"!

Disclaimer:  I was given the one day cleanse at no cost, (the one day juice cleanse is $78 CDN)  and with no expectation from Buda as to how to review their product.
