Hot Chocolate

For those of you who are looking for a caffeine-free option to coffee and tea, this drink is not only energizing due to the theobromine in cacao but so decadent and delicious that you may never drink coffee again. Theobromine is a relative to caffeine but doesn’t have that peak and crash like coffee.  The really amazing thing is that theobromine tends to stay in your body longer than coffee and doesn’t tax the nervous system. The maca in this recipe helps you to adapt to stress and has it’s own energizing properties. And lastly, the cayenne increases blood flow by opening up the blood vessels, which in turn, provides us with energy.

  • 1 cup unsweetened almond milk
  • 2 tbsp cacao powder
  • 2 tsp maca powder
  • 1 tbsp coconut oil
  • 1 tsp maple syrup
  • Pinch Himalayan or Celtic salt
  • Pinch cayenne

Mix all ingredients in a sauce pan, whisk, heat,  pour and enjoy!
