Today, I am sharing a guest post from Fiona Moore.  In dealing with the body wholistically, we look at body, mind and spirit.  Fiona is a spiritual guide and healer and is sharing a wonderful post about how becoming conscious of our inner self and mindset helps to help us physically as well.

This past summer, on a visit to Yellowstone National Park, I was immersed in Natures glory.

Yellowstone is teeming with geysers.  The earths crust literally cracks and bubbles before your eyes.

The Grand Prismatic Spring is the worlds third largest hot spring.  The vivid colors around it’s edge are created by the presence of billions of bacteria.

Grand Prismatic Spring
Scientists call these bacteria extremophiles because they thrive in extreme environments of heat and pressure.  And they believe that complex life forms began at the edge of hot springs when these brightly colored microbes combined as one.

Are you hot or cold?
When we ask questions such as “What am I really here for?” or “How do I find happiness?” it’s like taking dive into the middle of a hot spring.  These questions turn the heat up in our lives.

The more you examine yourself and your life, the more conscious you become.  And the more conscious you are, the more you connect with your true purpose.

Life begins at the edge.
If you stay open, these questions will start to reveal hidden aspects of yourself.

Some of what you find you might want to avoid.  It’s what you’ve pushed away, or not known how to resolve.  But it’s at your ‘edge’ that you get fresh ideas and inspiration to live with greater joy, wellbeing and meaning.

When you face what feels scary, sad or painful - rather than resist or push away - you begin to feel lighter and free-er.  And your gifts and strengths become more obvious.

Why?  Because its takes energy to keep aspects of yourself hidden or pushed down.  And when you face what feels uncomfortable you liberate your hidden potential.

Then the earth starts to move.
Now get ready.  Even if you don’t feel you’re ready.  Because your life, and even your body, will begin shape shift to match your emerging true self.

And this is when things can become a bit chaotic, at least for a while.   And it’s critical to recognize the chaos for what it is - life re-organizing itself - as opposed thinking that something is going wrong.

Because: New life begins under pressure.

But what about your ‘to do’ list?
After a week of being unplugged on my trip, I arrived home refreshed and rested.  And then I was confronted with my ‘to do’ list.

Thud.  It was as though a twenty pound weight was dumped on my shoulders.  My everyday mind clamored “You’ve got SO much to do!”

I felt myself sinking.  Worried by the thought that I needed to complete a bucket load of projects by yesterday.

Fortunately, I recognized the spin of my thinking and softened inside.  As I saw through my limited thinking I recognized my to do list simply was a range of possibilities, not urgent demands.  The pressure released.

It’s not always easy to live at the edge - where your true self is birthed, AND manage the nitty gritty of daily life.  But with practice this balancing act gets easier.

The next time you feel overwhelmed by intensity, or by your ‘to do’ list:
  • Take a moment to remember that intensity is not necessarily a signal that something is going wrong.   It’s what happens when you’re birthing a new version of yourself.
  • Breathe deeply and slowly into your belly three times.  This helps to ground your energy and steady your nervous system.
  • Shift into the attitude of curiosity.  Curiosity helps you notice what’s new, what’s possible and what’s calling you.
Now watch how your gifts and unique purpose show up to illuminate your path to happiness, wellbeing and a meaningful life.
